"The Prophet Isaiah presents us with an image of a God who forgives the sins of his people in a radical way, by cancelling them out permanently, remembering them no more. This 'divine capacity' expresses his will to forgive totally, which is so typical of God's love. In this way the person is totally recreated. By forgiving, God makes all things new, as if he were making a path through the desert and sending springs of living water to flow along it.
"The first reading reveals the fundamental meaning of the Gospel story. Mark describes the scene of the paralytic who, in order to meet Jesus, had to be lowered from the roof of the house where the Lord was preaching." Entire reflection.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Welcome to Saint Benedict Church! As pastor, I invite you to participate in our parish's numerous opportunities for worship, fellowship, education in the Catholic faith, and apostolic outreach to those in need, as we follow the commission of our Blessed Savior.
Saint Benedict Parish has a fine commitment to education. We are very blessed to have a parish school that has been educating Catholic children and youth for over ninety years.
Saint Benedict Church was established in 1911 and dedicated on 28 August 1929. We have inherited an ancient Christian imperative, stated beautifully in Saint Benedict's Rule, “All guests who arrive be received like Christ . . . and to all that do, due honor be shown. . . .”
Our parish is dedicated to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, and to liturgical expressions faithful to the sacred tradition of the Church. Profoundly valuing the role of sacred music, we also maintain the use of Latin in the liturgy as an expression of our Catholic heritage. We are indeed proud of our Catholic faith and embrace its teachings in all aspects of our life in Christ.
We hope that you will take advantage of the full range of opportunities for spiritual enrichment and service that are at the heart of our parish. The pastoral staff and the people of Saint Benedict are always available to serve you on your spiritual journey. Information about our parish activities is presented on this website, posted on the bulletin boards in Saint Benedict side porch, and published in the Sunday bulletin. Please feel free to contact our parish office at any time, (804) 254-8810.
With confidence in the prayer of Jesus to His Father, please be assured we are here for you and for one another. We must all strive together in the sharing of our gifts in this parish
The Reverend James F. Kauffmann, S.S.L.
Pastor

Saint Benedict Catholic Church
"...a church in which the eternal light is burning before the tabernacle is always alive,
is always something more than a building made of stones.
In this place the Lord is always waiting for me, calling me, wanting to make me 'eucharistic.' "
(The Spirit of the Liturgy, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, 2000)
